Winter

Photo stolen from blog-bud Andy.
Concept stolen from blog-bud Betty.

Winter is icummen in,
Lhude sing Goddamm,
Raineth drop and staineth slop
And how the wind doth ramm!
Sing: Goddamm.
Skiddeth bus and sloppeth us,
An ague hath my ham.
Freezeth river, turneth liver
Damn you, sing: Goddamm.
Goddamm, Goddamm, tis why I am,
Goddamm.
So 'gainst the winter's balm
Sing Goddamm, damm, sing Goddamm
Sing Goddamm, sing Goddamm,
DAMM.

Ezra Pound

***************

Hibernation... that's the only way I can explain it. I've been hibernating, mentally, if not physically. If I have not visited you, gentle reader, in ages, my apologies. I hope to change that soon. Be assured I have missed you all. I will leave you, for now, with one piece of solid advice: something I learned in my absence: try not to have backache and toothache on the same day. Really. Hopefully I will return soon with something more original. Even so, the above photo and poem suit both my mood and the weather in my neck of the woods. Enjoy. Until we meet again I remain, as always

Respectfully Yours,

Cricket

Ouch.. I sure hope that both pains have eased by now. Take your time, we'll be here when you are. :)

The poem was worth the wait.

As you know, I've had much experience with pains in the teeth. I both sympathize and empathize. I've been lucky in avoidance of back pain, though. Here's praying that both are gone from your life.

Although I live in central PA and KNOW full well that winter here means ice and snow, that doesn't mean I have to welcome every new round of the white stuff and certainly not the ice that we got here last week. But overall, I guess you'd say I accept it. That said, I have to say I absolutely LOVED the photo on this piece as well as the poem too! So appropriate and both express my current feelings about snow, ice -okay, winter!

LOVE IT!!! Hope your pains are but memories now--hibernate if that's what you need; we'll be here when you nose yourself back out.
"Lhudde sing GODDAMN!" Applies to many situations...

the picture has always made me giggle. the poem is new to me but also made me grin.

toothache AND backache in one day in one body during the winter. just so unfair.

hibernation? yes, please. i'd like to be next.

You do visit me and I am always happy to read your comments. For me, winter is what it is. I know I haven't lived here long, three years is not a long time. So far I am just glad to be living in a better place and if winter comes with the deal, so be it.

It really is hard, isn't it? It just seems it never ends. Especially where you live, right? : ) I hope your weekend is filled with much wonderfulness! Love, Becky
