Quote Of The Day

Just passing this one on:

Remember when teachers, public employees, Planned Parenthood, NPR and PBS crashed the stock market, wiped out half our 401Ks, took trillions in taxpayer funded bailouts, spilled oil in the Gulf of Mexico, gave themselves billions in bonuses and paid no taxes?

Yeah. Me neither.

Respectfully Yours,

Cricket

No Cricket, I can't remember when any of those groups did any such thing.

It was those guys whose taxes put food on their table that did it all.

I mean...NPR, Planned Parenthood, Teachers, public employees...they REALLY create enough tax revenue on their own to pay their costs.

Those sons of bitches at BP, Goldman Sachs, and all the other Wall Street bastards really screwed us over! I think I might do some research in to WHO ran those companies, WHO they ended up advising in DC, and how much they contribute to each political party.

I'm voting against that party next time.

Hi Andy -

You're right. I'll never vote demopublican again. Next time, it's the republicrats.

And seriously, at least based on a quick googling, BP didn't pay any tax. GS paid 14 million in tax... on profits of 2.3 billion.

For comparison, 14 million is the school budget shortfall in my city. And the point, I thought, of education is not generating revenue in the first place, but more of a cost-benefit thing.

But still, you've read my posts, you know where I stand. There is no choice. The candidate elected will be either a Republican or a Democrat. GS doesn't give more to Democratic candidates because they are Democrats. They give more to Democratic candidates because they are located primarily in NY, and have, by demographic, more Democratic candidates they need to buy.

The only choice is who gives the speeches and what they say. What they do will be substantially the same. I think Mr. Zappa summed it up nicely:

Politics is the entertainment branch of industry.
